Agent Spotlight: Pirie Humphries

We sat down with Pirie Humphries to hear about her journey in real estate, her favorite Austin neighborhoods, and her popular Pirie’s Picks newsletter series that highlights local gems. From home buying and selling insights to must-visit spots around town, Pirie shares what makes Austin feel like home to her.

Jordan: What originally drew you to real estate?

Pirie: I started my real estate career back in my hometown of Athens, Georgia. Growing up, I babysat for a family whose mom was a broker. One day, she told me she could see me as an agent and that real estate might be a great career for me. I said, “Why not?”. So here I am, ten years later, living in Austin, Texas, with my broker’s license under my belt.

Jordan: What is your favorite neighborhood in Austin

Pirie: There are a lot of great neighborhoods in Austin, but I personally love Rosedale. It's really close to where I live, and I enjoy its walkability. The homes remind me of the ones I grew up with in my hometown. I also love how centrally located it is!

Jordan: What do you love about the home buying process?

Pirie: My favorite part of the home buying process is getting to know my clients. It usually begins with a broad search, but as we start touring homes and narrowing down the options, it becomes really fun to see what they love, and what they don’t love so much. The search naturally starts to focus, and discovering what they’re truly looking for is always one of the most enjoyable parts of the job for me.

Jordan: What do you love most about the home selling process?

Pirie: I love the beginning stages of selling a home, meeting with clients and working with them to get their home as market-ready as possible. Sometimes that just means a quick decluttering, but other times it involves a bit more. I really enjoy everything leading up to picture day and making the home picture-perfect and ready for launch when the time comes.

Jordan: Tell us a little bit about your series "Pirie's Picks"

Pirie: Yes! Each month, I send out newsletters to my client base and anyone who's interested. The first section I feature is called “Pirie’s Picks.” It highlights a business I love in Austin that I feel deserves the spotlight. It could be anything from my dentist to a favorite restaurant, or even my eyebrow lady. I just enjoy showcasing local businesses in Austin that I think are doing a great job.

Jordan: So you are running out of the door, what is something you can not leave the house without?

Pirie: I always have my phone and keys, but something I definitely can’t leave the house without is my sunglasses. I think they’re the perfect way to complete any outfit! My favorite pair is actually a set of Ray-Bans I’ve had since college, tortoiseshell aviators. They go with everything.

Jordan: What are some ways you wind down after a busy day at work?

Pirie: I love a good happy hour. It’s always fun to meet up with girlfriends after a long day, enjoy a glass of wine, and catch up with some girl talk! Some of my favorite spots are Flo’s Wine Bar, they have great wine and my favorite pizza, Clark’s, Rosie’s for the patio, and Maudie’s for a fun, casual vibe. Honestly, I’m happy just about anywhere!

Jordan: What does your ideal weekend in Austin look like?

Pirie: A few years ago, I had a girlfriend visit, and we had the quintessential Austin day. We started with a walk around Town Lake, then headed to brunch at Clark’s. Funny enough, we ran into another friend of mine who invited us out on a boat on Lake Austin that afternoon. Of course, we said yes, soaked up the sunny Sunday, and ended the day with a fun dinner and the best margaritas in town at Matt’s El Rancho!
