Austin Portfolio Agent Spot: Morgan Smith

We've recently had a great conversation with Morgan Smith, one half of the Schmitz & Smith group. We discussed her favorite neighborhoods, her top uniquely Austin events, and the story behind how she and Shannon Schmitz created their luxury real estate team.

Kylee: What is your favorite part about working in the Austin real estate market?

Morgan: I live in Bouldin, which is near downtown, and I really enjoy working in my neighborhood as well as in Zilker, Travis Heights, and the Clarksville area. I love all of the older neighborhoods; they’re super cool and eclectic. It’s easy for me to work there so often because I love it, and I live there.

Kylee: If you could live anywhere in Austin where would you go?

Morgan: After Bouldin, I would do Clarksville. That would definitely be my second pick for sure.

Kylee: What is your favorite uniquely Austin event?

Morgan: It’s got to be the Austin City Limits Music Festival. I love it! I’ve been going consistently for the last 10 years since I moved back to Austin.

Kylee: How did you and Shannon Schmitz come together to start the Schmitz & Smith Luxury Group?

Shannon Schmitz: Well, Morgan and I were friends first. Morgan entered real estate in 1999 in Dallas, where she worked for a very successful woman and helped her grow her team. I wanted to harness that energy, so we began talking about creating a team around 2011.

Kylee: Why did you and Shannon decide to start a team?

Shannon and Morgan: We really love growth and wanted to step back from production to focus on developing our teammates. That’s what drives us now. It’s not just about selling a house every day; it’s about how we can help our team sell a house every day. We are all about developing our agents and making them the best they can be.
